Volunteer Now
At least 1 in 6 children in the United States live in poverty. That can mean money for new school supplies, clothes, and a new backpack can be hard for some families to come by. That's where the YMCA's Bright Beginnings program comes into play. Bright Beginnings gives students the clothes and school supplies they need by may not be able to afford on their own. YMCA Bright Beginnings takes children in need back to school shopping with community volunteers. We provide a gift card to volunteers (Yadkin Rotary Club) to shop for clothes with a child one-to-one. Each year, the Y works with the staff at local elementary schools and school districts to identify the students who are most in need.

The long-term project planned for the greenway is a 32-mile trail, starting in Jonesville and ending in Rockford. God’s Garage is a group of people who want to help others. God’s Garage was born out of the needs we saw around them, as some of our single ladies, widows, and wives of deployed military are struggling to make ends meet. One of the ways that they help, is to step in and make necessary repairs to their vehicles. They also have found those who are in need of a vehicle, but are not at the place where they can purchase one. Through donated cars and parts, they are able to bridge troubled times in so many people’s lives. Plan to to attend in person or via Zoom.
